Crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami Network Across J&K; Hundreds of Raids Conducted in Multiple Districts
Srinagar, Nov 12, KNT: Following the Red Fort blast in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a massive crackdown against the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), conducting widespread raids across multiple districts, including Kulgam, Baramulla, and Pulwama. The operations, which began after the Red Fort blast, according to the police were aimed at dismantling the organisational network, funding channels, and ideological infrastructure of the outfit.
According to police officials, the searches were carried out at hundreds of locations, targeting the houses and premises of JeI members, sympathizers, and associates believed to be involved in sustaining or reviving the group’s activities.
In Kulgam district, police raided over 200 locations linked to JeI and its affiliates. The operations, described as part of a sustained counter-militancy drive, led to the recovery of incriminating documents, digital devices, and materials of evidentiary value. Officials said more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have been conducted in recent days, focusing on areas earlier associated with militant hideouts and Over Ground Workers (OGWs). Nearly 500 individuals have been questioned so far, with several bound down or detained under preventive laws and shifted to District Jail Mattan in Anantnag.
Similarly, in Sopore, police launched an extensive raid at over 25 locations across Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad, with assistance from other security agencies. The operation followed credible intelligence suggesting attempts by JeI-linked individuals to revive their network under new fronts. A significant cache of documents, printed literature, and digital storage devices was seized and sent for forensic examination.
In Awantipora, police teams conducted simultaneous raids at multiple premises associated with JeI members and their supporters. Several individuals were questioned and bound down under law, while digital and printed materials were recovered.
Officials said these district-level operations are part of a larger, coordinated campaign across Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt the ideological, logistical, and financial networks of banned organisations. The actions are being carried out under a broader zero-tolerance policy towards militancy and its ecosystem.
Police sources added that the crackdown is both preventive and intelligence-driven, focusing on neutralizing ground-level sympathizers and financial conduits that aid militant activities.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, public order, and security stability, stating that no individual or group would be allowed to exploit locals or disturb peace. The police emphasized that similar operations will continue in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the region from elements seeking to revive banned outfits. [KNT]
