CASO Leads to Busting of Militant Hideout in North Kashmir’s Kreeri


Baramulla, Dec 24, KNT: Security forces on Wednesday busted a militant hideout during a cordon and search operation in the Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials said the hideout was detected in an open field at Shali Buth Wagila Kreeri during a CASO conducted jointly by the Special Operations Group Kreeri, Police Station Kreeri, 52 Rashtriya Rifles, and 2nd Sashastra Seema Bal.

During the search, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including four Chinese grenades, 19 rounds of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher ammunition, and 46 rounds of AK rifle ammunition.

Officials said all the recovered items and ammunition were destroyed on the spot as per standard operating procedures to avert any threat.

Police said the recovery has dealt a blow to militant activity in the area and further investigations are underway to ascertain the source and intended use of the recovered material. [KNT]
