NC’s Delhi Programme Intact: Omar Abdullah


Srinagar, July 16, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the National Conference’s proposed programme in New Delhi would go ahead as scheduled, though the venue of the protest could change depending on the permission granted by the authorities.
Speaking to reporters, Omar said the party’s plan to travel to the national capital remains unchanged despite uncertainty over holding the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
“The Delhi programme is intact. It will not change. The venue may change depending on the permission we receive,” he said.
The National Conference has announced a protest in New Delhi to press for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and has been seeking permission to hold the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

When asked whether the announcement of protest programmes by some other political parties on the same day amounted to an attempt to sabotage or divert attention from the National Conference’s event, Omar refrained from making a direct allegation.
