Mr Sarwanand Pandita the father of top police officer Manoj Pandita passed away on Friday after a brief spell of illness at his Iqbal Colony Sonwar-based residence here in Srinagar. He was 68.
The deceased was lovingly known as Somnath who hailed from Sheeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A large number of people participated in his last rites that was conducted at Karan Nagar Crematorium on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, several police officers have expressed grief over the demise of the father of Manoj Pandita.
The departed soul was a renowned teacher, landlord, and father of prolific writer Manoj Kumar Pandita AIG Tech PHQ Srinagar alias Manoj Sheeri.
The locals of Sheeri while expressing sympathies with Manoj Pandita said that he will be remembered for his philanthropic activities and social commitments. [KNT]
