Kashmir: Two Militancy-Related Incidents Reported in January

Srinagar, Jan 30, KNT: Only two militancy-related incidents were reported in Jammu and Kashmir in the first month of 2025.

Data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that besides an encounter in which a soldier was killed, militants lobbed a control room of military intelligence in January.

On January 7 this month, militants lobbed a grenade at 163 Territorial Army causing significant damage to the military intelligence Control Room in Hamray Pattan area of Baramulla. Three persons were arrested in this regard.

In the second militancy-related incident on January 20, a soldier identified as Pangala Kartheek was killed in an encounter in Zaloora Gujjarpati forest area of Sopore Baramulla.

Besides these two militancy-related incidents, there was an accidental land mine blast along the Line of Control in the Makri area of the Bhawani sector in Rajouri district of Jammu in which six soldiers sustained injuries.

Notably, in January last year in 2024, a militant and two soldiers had been killed while 2 troopers had sustained injuries in 3 different militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
