Srinagar, May 28, KNT: The 14th edition of Alisha’s Library on Wheels was inaugurated today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rainawari, bringing a mobile collection of competitive exam books to female students aiming for ambitious careers.
Co-founded by US-based student Alisha Madhuvarshi and CISF officer Rakesh Nikhaj, the initiative is dedicated to delivering quality reading materials to children in underserved areas, especially those with limited access to educational resources.
The Rainawari unit features an almirah stocked with the latest books for UPSC, SSC, Banking, Law, and other competitive exams, along with a seating area for six students. “This is about creating opportunity, one book at a time,” said Alisha, addressing students virtually.
The library was formally handed over by SSP Central Jail Srinagar Sheikh Zulufikar Azad to school Principal Gulshan Afroza, with CISF Commander Rakesh Nikhaj highlighting the mission of the project.
Career expert Sheikh Inayat Ullah encouraged students to explore diverse fields and stressed early career planning, referencing UNICEF-developed tools to help students assess their strengths.
In recognition of academic excellence, three top-performing Class 11 students were gifted free online SSC courses worth Rs 21,000 each.
The principal thanked the team and pledged to fully utilize the resources, while Alisha announced her goal of expanding the initiative to 100 remote locations across India in the coming years. [KNT]
