JKTDC Employees Urge CM Omar Abdullah to Defer Board Meeting Over Outsourcing Fears

Srinagar, July 4, KNT: The Employees Union of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to postpone the upcoming Board of Directors meeting, citing serious concerns over possible outsourcing of key revenue-generating properties.

The Union expressed unease over not being informed about the agenda of the meeting and feared that critical decisions—such as outsourcing units like the Pahalgam Club and hutments—may be taken without employee consultation.

“These properties are not only profitable but vital to the Corporation’s financial health. Outsourcing them could severely impact JKTDC’s income and the future of hundreds of employees and their families,” the Union stated.

They added that outsourcing is typically considered for loss-making units, not those contributing significantly to revenue.

The employees further noted that the newly appointed Managing Director has only recently assumed charge and may need more time to assess the Corporation’s challenges before major decisions are made.

Reiterating their concerns, the Union urged the Chief Minister to intervene and defer the board meeting to allow for dialogue and transparency. [KNT]
