Police Register FIR After Court Direction Against Woman in Jammu for Alleged Domestic Violence, Criminal Intimidation

Jammu, July 4, KNT: On the directions of the Special Excise Mobile Magistrate, Jammu, the Janipur Police have registered an FIR against a woman accused of repeated domestic violence, intimidation, and obstruction of public duty.

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 131, 132, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 against Beera Bibi, daughter of Kaku Khan and wife of Zakir Hussain, a resident of Kalakam, Kot Tawa, Bhalwal (currently residing at Sector-7, Upper Roop Nagar, Jammu).

The case was registered following a court directive issued by Magistrate Brij Raj Singh on a petition filed by Zakir Hussain—an ex-army personnel and now a postal employee—who alleged that his wife had assaulted him multiple times, issued death threats, and frequently harassed him and their minor daughters.

According to the complaint, a particularly violent incident occurred on March 12, 2025, when Beera Bibi allegedly attacked her husband with bricks and issued chilling threats to dismember him and dump his body in a river. The complainant claims to have recorded the assault on video, including footage of his elder daughter also being assaulted.

A day later, on March 13, the accused allegedly threw a plier at the complainant and their younger daughter, narrowly missing serious injury. She reportedly disrupted the child’s final examination, assaulted Zakir again, and restrained him from leaving the house—even in the presence of police officials.

Despite repeated attempts to file a complaint with Janipur Police and the SSP Jammu, no FIR was registered, allegedly due to the influence of a retired SSP, Mir Mohammad, said to be supporting the accused. This led Zakir to approach the court under Section 175(3) of the BNSS.

After reviewing the complaint and accompanying video evidence, Magistrate Brij Raj Singh ruled that there were sufficient grounds to initiate legal proceedings. He had directed the SHO Janipur to register the FIR and begin investigations. [KNT]
