Genuine people do not use VPNs, says DIG North Kashmir

Bandipora, Jan 6, KNT: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, Maqsood-ul-Zaman on Tuesday said that genuine people do not use VPNs, asserting that such tools are often misused by those with ulterior motives who do not want their activities to be visible.

Speaking on security and law enforcement issues, the DIG said police in North Kashmir have been doing a tremendous job in curbing the drug menace, but stressed that complete eradication of drugs from society is not possible without active public cooperation.

He said arrests are being made on a regular basis, recoveries of narcotics are taking place, and properties of drug peddlers are also being seized under the law. However, he emphasized that people’s cooperation remains a crucial element in identifying and dismantling drug networks operating in the region.

“Police action alone cannot eliminate the drug problem. Society must come forward, share information and support law enforcement agencies,” the DIG told reporters on the sidelines of function in Bandipora.
