Speaking on the occasion, Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate and Strategy at Khyber Cement, said the company’s association with the league was aimed at creating long-term opportunities for young footballers rather than merely sponsoring a sporting event.
He said Khyber Cement remained committed to supporting initiatives that provide aspiring players with exposure and professional opportunities.
The Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League 2026 is scheduled to begin in August and will feature six franchise-based teams competing in 19 matches. Around 120 footballers from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir are expected to participate in the tournament.
Wasim Ahmed Khan said the encouraging response to the inaugural edition had reinforced the company’s resolve to continue supporting the league.
He said the previous season demonstrated that providing a professional sporting platform helped improve the standard of competition while enabling talented footballers from the region to gain recognition.
Khyber Cement said the sponsorship forms part of its broader commitment to promoting sports, education and youth development in Jammu and Kashmir by supporting platforms that encourage talent and community participation. [KNT]
