Omar Abdullah Orders Swift Action, Restoration in Flood-Hit Areas

Srinagar, Sept 5, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the post-flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir and issued a series of directions to the administration for effective response and relief.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to reinforce vulnerable spots along embankments and bunds and to carry out evacuation of residents from inundated villages without delay. He also stressed the need for round-the-clock monitoring through control rooms to ensure timely coordination of rescue and relief efforts.

Omar Abdullah emphasized that officials should make frequent visits to the affected areas and issue regular advisories urging residents to remain alert, avoid panic, and extend full cooperation with the administration.

The Chief Minister further directed for swift restoration of essential services, including power supply, drinking water, and road connectivity, so that normalcy could be restored at the earliest in flood-hit regions. [KNT]
