9 soldiers including a JCO die in Leh road accident: SSP Leh

Nine soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer were killed in a fatal road accident in Leh division of Ladakh on Saturday.

The condition of one soldier is critical.

SSP Leh, PD Nitya told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accident occurred at 4:45 pm. She said an army vehicle in which 10 army personnel were travelling including the driver from Leh to Nyoma direction, met with an accident 6km short of Kiari in which the vehicle rolled down into the gorge skidding off the road.

“As soon as the reports reached local police, the police team went to the spot and all the injured were shifted to army MI room. Eight personnel died on the spot, while one personnel succumbed to the injuries while being taken to Leh hospital,” she said.

SSP Leh further said that the condition of an injured soldier is critical. [KNT]
