Kashmir Valley has been witnessing chilly and foggy winter mornings and nights and the reason for the chilly days can be due to the drop in the mercury levels.
A weather official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that though the weather in the coming days will remain dry but the foggy conditions may persist. He, however, said that due to the expected rainfall on Thursday in some parts, the intensity of the fog may come down.
The temperatures during the day as well as night have plummeted. Due to foggy conditions, all the morning flights at Srinagar Airport were delayed on Tuesday. Commuters find it difficult to commute on foggy roads during the wee and morning hours. Even, school-going children, especially those using their own two-wheelers face a precarious situation.

The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir has already appealed to the government to announce the winter vacation for schools, especially for lower classes on a priority basis, due to minus temperatures and foggy conditions.
Kashmir’s harshest winter season will commence on 21 December, the next month but there is a tinge of ‘Chillai Kalan’ already. [KNT]
