Srinagar, July 11, KNT: In a decisive action to counter the drug trade and dismantle the infrastructure sustaining it, Srinagar Police on Friday attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1 crore under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to a police statement, the seized property comprises a single-storey residential house and 17 marlas of land situated in Lawaypora, Srinagar. The property is registered in the name of Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, son of the late Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh—a notorious drug peddler with a long trail of criminal cases across Jammu and Kashmir.
Zubair Ahmad Sheikh is the main accused in FIR No. 39/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Shalteng. The police said he has persistently targeted local youth, pushing them into drug addiction, and continues to pose a grave threat to public health and community well-being.
