Structure Worth Rs 1.5 Crore Demolished in Srinagar, Police Cite NDPS Cases


Srinagar, May 20, KNT: Srinagar Police on Tuesday demolished a two-storey structure and adjoining portions allegedly linked to a wanted drug peddler during an anti-narcotics operation in the Haka Bazar area of Lal Bazar.
Police said the structure, built on State land and spread over nearly nine marlas, was valued at around ₹1.5 crore.
According to police, the property was linked to Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh and a resident of Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar, who is wanted in narcotics-related cases.

Police said the accused is involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including FIR No. 31/2025 registered at Police Station Janipur, Jammu, under Sections 8/21 and 22 of the NDPS Act, and FIR No. 50/2025 registered at Police Station Lal Bazar under Section 8/20 of the Act.
The demolition was carried out by Police Station Lal Bazar in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
Authorities said the demolished structure comprised a two-storey building along with an adjoining room and washroom constructed on State land.
Police described the action as part of continuing measures against narcotics-related activities and illegal assets allegedly created through the drug trade.
The operation concluded peacefully under official supervision, police said. [KNT]
